Harlan Hodges is a pianist, composer from West Texas who has been actively performing and writing within a wide range of musical styles and performance mediums over the past decade. Drawing heavily from both the Classical and Jazz traditions, his main focus is to create engaging and imaginative works that are deeply concept oriented and embrace the intimate relationship between improvisation, modern technologies and the musical experience. Through collaborating with as many musicians, artists, and directors as possible he has created works that range from Big Band and Orchestra to large-scale art installations, films, commercials, therapy music, interactive VR, and arrangements for songwriters. As the resident pianist/composer with the internationally touring Live-Action Graphic Novel “The Intergalactic Nemesis” 2014-2017 seasons, his live- score improvisations have laid the framework for his dedication to the responsibility and craftsmanship of musical story-telling.
